Ankur Johri, DDS, MD, FACSDr. Ankur Johri brings his unique skillset to Lehigh OMS. In addition to obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) with Honors in 2003 at the University of Toronto, he obtained his Medical degree (M.D.) from the University of Connecticut in 2009. His additional knowledge as a Medical Doctor gives him the ability to manage his patients as a whole rather than focusing solely on their mouth/face. Only a few Oral Surgeons in the country are trained with Dual Doctorates degrees.
He performs his more invasive procedures such as treatment of Facial fractures, Neck Infections, Correction of facial deformities, Sleep apnea surgery, Tumor resection and Facial reconstruction at Lehigh Valley Hospital (which is a Level 1 Trauma Center). He also performs cleft palate surgeries at Lehigh Valley Hospital as a member on the Craniofacial team. Dr. Johri is also trained in non-surgical hair restoration and jaw correction surgery for esthetically conscious patients. Dr. Johri is also using cutting edge technology such as Photogrammetry, 3D Printing and CAD/CAM 3D virtual surgical planning to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes. He is teaching these modalities to other surgeons through hands on courses. Aside from striving to be an excellent Clinician, he is also committed to Peer Education. He was previously awarded the Teacher of the Year award from Lehigh Valley Hospital in the field of OMS. Dr. Johri is a Peer journal reviewer for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also authored a chapter on infections in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America. He has also written an eBook on implant treatment for severely atrophic maxillas. Dr. Johri is also an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS) - only a fraction of the Oral Surgeons in the country are Peer nominated for this purpose. Dr. Johri has an Unrestricted Anesthesia permit from the State of Pennsylvania that allows him to perform General Anesthesia in the office. He is ACLS, PALS and BLS certified. He is a Diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Johri’s personal interests include traveling, listening to/producing music, and CrossFit. |
